Let It Shine PLUS Skyline Chair Winner Announced!

One of the most important factors to me in a home is the amount of natural light it gets.  Big, beautiful, spacious windows that allow optimum natural light to permeate a room are on the top of my future dream home priority list.  While indoor lighting has come a long way over the years, nothing has, or will ever beat the sun.  Wouldn't you rather pull open the curtains and take in a pretty view than turn on a light switch?

If you're still on the fence, these photos will definitely sell you on big windows.  Oh, and another bonus?  They usually make a room look a lot bigger than it actually is!

Trend Alert: Eclecticism

David Bromstad, a color expert and designer who works for HGTV, recently discussed eclecticism as one of the hottest 2012 decorating trends in Home & Garden Magazine.

"A collected, eclectic look is the No. 1 rage in design right now.  The age of matchy-match furniture pieces is finally over.  People are very conscious about their interiors, and with everyone's budget being on high alert, it's actually cheaper to add to what you already have instead of buying a whole new living room set."

I really appreciate the eclectic philosophy of adding to what you already have, mixing old and new, and incorporating both traditional and modern styles.  I've also never been too big on matching, so this style is perfect for my taste.  If you're going for an eclectic look, just remember that the best rooms are collected over time, and only decorate with items and pieces that you absolutely love!  Be picky, and don't you dare buy everything at once!

So, go start by pairing a new sofa with something from your grandmother's attic!  Here are some examples of gorgeous, eclectics looks to get you inspired..........

Step Right Up PLUS Gift Card Winners Announced!

Ever since I was a little girl I've had a thing for pretty staircases.  When I was about ten years old my family moved into a new house that had a beautiful, winding staircase in the entry way.  I used to practice walking down the stairs with my most graceful gait, pretending I had a prom date at the bottom admiring my fancy dress.  Years later when I actually did have a prom date standing at the bottom of the stairs I realized my little girl fantasy was totally over-rated.  But a pretty staircase?  Definitely not over-rated!

I understand that a staircase is first and foremost an element of function in a home, but I think the prettier, the better.  Right?

Here are some gorgeous staircases of varying design and architectural styles that I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having in my home....

# 13 wow I love something different and these are! So beautiful! Can I have the whole house please :)

Wendy(1 year ago)

You forgot my absolute favorite staircase I've ever seen. It incorporates a slide. http://www.highglossblue.com/2010/03/slides-inside.html Does it get any better? I submit that it doesn't.

Samantha(1 year ago)

I love the Traditional home #2 with the almost Venitan look, I have always wanted a home like this but was not blessed with the funds to do so the Military gives you nice things but not extravagant like so, I too dreamed of comming down a staircase so beautiful like most of those so when I wed my husband I came down a circular staircase in reno's Peppermill in a penthouse suite looking over the snow capped mountains it was amazing and more than I could ever dream of.

Lydia(1 year ago)

Gorgeous staircases. Loved all the pics, gives great ideas. Thank you.

It definitely was not enough time but so worth it.

Also one of my sons started preschool and we have been staying busy swimming and working on our house and yard since we are new homeowners!

Suzanne(2 years ago)

Not to be a downer but we did not have a good summer. My mother passed away after almost an 11 year battle with cancer and we have been taking care of her things. She was a brave and wonderful woman who was supposed to have died 11 years ago. She did not lose her battle with cancer, we rather think she kicked cancers behind. She is a winner in our book. We are very proud of her. On a good note, congratulations on the cutie patootie! Babies are a blast. Little boys are a bundle of fun.

Tina(2 years ago)

Paulla(2 years ago)

The cutest fella, and what a great smile! Welcome back! I had the worst summer ever. I spent it on my couch mostly because of a torn meniscus. Got hit by a drunk driver last Christmas Eve. Got mis-diagnosed and have spent the last 8 months with a torn meniscus getting worse and worse. Finally got the proper diagnosis and am waiting for a surgery date. Next summer will be the best. I'm crossing my fingers anyway.

Shawn(2 years ago)

First off super cute baby boy! i spent my summer recovering from ankle surgery, stuck on the couch in pain relying on my wife and stepdaughter. That is a guilt filled summer. Not our most pleasant to date but a needed  one. Thats all... oh and we have a 3 year old and a 4 month old..   poor ladies of the house!

Christine A.(2 years ago)

Congrats again on the little fella, that picture is adorable.Parenting really melts your heart at times ;) Camping on the beach for the first time since having baby boy #3.It was the best trip as we had the whole crew there, family, dog and friends. It was not the ideal summer weather, cold and rainy but we all had a blast still. Our Sunbrella shade was used to keep the rain off us while we roasted marshmallows,(smores inside waffle cones are so good), told stories, sang songs, cuddled and giggled our selves silly. It was lovely knowing that even though we had inclement weather, we still made the best of it. Great memories.

Jennifer Meecham(2 years ago)

It has been a fun summer. I took my kids to Lagoon a few times, and we did lots of swimming.

Linda(2 years ago)

I went to Cedar City and saw a lot of soccer games in tournaments. We spent many summer days hanging out with family and cleaning up our basement:)

Debbie Erickson(2 years ago)

Spent a wonderful time in South Africa. However, there's always bad with the good. My washing machine broke down 3 weeks before the trip and my car died (engine blew up) 5 days after my return. I also spend time volunteering at events in my neighborhood. This has certainly been one eventful summer.

After a year long hospital stay and my husband being unemployed for three years, it was nice to finally be able to spend time with the family. We went to Seven Peaks, Trafalga, Idaho to visit family, swimming, played lots of board and Wii games and had a weekly movie night letting the kids stay up past their bedtime. They thought staying up late was so cool. All in all it was a great summer. My son said it was the best summer ever!!!!!

/Users/qtwhitby/Desktop/photo.jpg/Users/qtwhitby/Desktop/IMG_0028.jpg finally graduated from UVU after nine years with my bachelors in elementary education and have applied for over 300 jobs and had 12 interviews.  No Job yet.  Then had to have a left total knee replacement August 14, 12, I am recovering from now.

Inger(2 years ago)

Since I am retired, I spent a lot of time in places with air conditioning (Sacramento heat). I recently learned to bowl so I joined a summer bowling league (always cool in bowling alleys). We bought a travel trailer to go camping in (has air conditioning). Buried my mother and went to Wells Nevada for my brother-in-laws funeral. Enjoyed my two grandsons age 6 and 7 years.

Judy(2 years ago)

I never went anywhere. But I had the best summer ever spending so much time with my children and my grandchildren cookouts and just visiting. Which they mean more than a beach chair and a sun burn.

Moved. Spent vacation days 1-3 moving, cleaning, and sorting. Days 4-8 locating, sorting, placing, and remodeling. I needed a vacation from my vacation. Would love to buy a patio umbrella for our backyard.

Julie(2 years ago)

Spent time with some old friends. Bought a massage chair that I've spent most of the summer nights in. Took care of my mother who broke her ankle. Cleaned out the apartment. Bowled a lot on the Wii. Perfected my ambrosia recipe. Became addicted to trying to make my nails look good, with all kinds of the new "Funky" polishes. Made earrrings. That's about it. Oh yeah sweat alot.

Candace(2 years ago)

My summer is quiet. I live alone so no real plans. Just working on my house. My doggies prefer that because I am home!  Although I can't wait for my delivery on Tuesday. :)

Wendy(2 years ago)

This summer has been pretty low key for us. With my husband in his first year of starting a business we haven't had time (or the money) for a real vacation but we have enjoyed spending time up in the mountains fishing.

Moran(2 years ago)

Well, this summer was great, went to visit family out of the country, my twin girls and my baby along with my husband, although we had a very sand moment about 2 weeks after we came back my kids' great grandma past away but we were so happy and glad that we got to spen lots of time while we were there. (it happened so sudden)  my girls have not started daycare just yet, they will next week.  Congratulations on your bundle of joy, being parents is the best thing ever!!

Nikki(2 years ago)

Mostly took my son around to soccer, karate, and various in-town activities. Unfortunately we didn't get to go anywhere this year!

Hi Andie, Welcome back and congratulations on your little one! We managed to have a very busy summer, traveling to 5 cities in 3 different states . The kids experienced great culture, caught up with extended family, and learned new things about the northwest. It was a lot of fun but I am ready for the rhythm of school to get us back into a groove. Whew!

Catherine(2 years ago)

Congratulations on your handsome little man! He is so adorable :)  For our summer vacation we spent a week in Tahoe. Played at the lake and did a bunch of sight seeing. Camped for an extended weekend at Camp Far West. Had a great time there also. Aside from that we hit the movies a few times and celebrated three birthdays in our family (all in a week and a half). Has been really hot looking forward to cooler weather :)

Sharon(2 years ago)

I spent my summer vacation in my hometown, Kansas City. Got to spend a lot of quality time with my Mom and sister. I had hoped to escape the Las Vegas heat, but it was even hotter in KC!

We caught one of the best paranormal pictures I had ever seen. We also spent some time out on the lake, and my hubby and I went Kyaking for the first time ever. I remember my mom and dad taking my syblings and I to these spots as a kid so it was really special and awesome for me to be able to now share these spots with my Hubby and kids.

Evan(2 years ago)

We got to go to Yellowstone National Park in June with all the extended family! It was a lot of fun! The kids also got to spend a lot of time outside playing on the new play equipment in the backyard.

I was lucky enough to become a Mommy for the second time on June 13th, to a precious baby boy named Paxton! I was lucky enough to spend the first month with Paxton and my 2 year old Zaiden. Now I'm back at work and missing my boys all the time, but at least we can afford to buy them fun summer toys to play with outside!!!!

Nicole Chaput(2 years ago)

We were so lucky to go back East and visit two sets of Grandparents.  My kiddos so enjoyed reconnecting with them.

Judy(2 years ago)

Went to Alabama with my friend Linda, who invited me to go with her. She was meeting a friend she hooked up with through face book, who she had not seen for more than 20yrs. Her friend lives in Colorado and had made plains to go to Alabama for a retreat, we meet her ( Soina ) her sister and friend there. Now I can say I have 3 new friends from Colorado. ;-)  "Good Friend's are for ever"

Evon(2 years ago)

I love summer time, well except here in Las Vegas, where the heat and humidity has been in record highs.  I spend all year with the kids who are now 19 and 22 male children.  What I love about our family is that we love to hang out with each other and play games, talk about what's going on in the world, or just discuss what's going on in their lives.  I'm proud to say that they feel comfortable telling me just about anything and sometimes I wish they were just a little less free with the information.  lol  But hey, I started age appropriate communications when they were little.  Now they are strong free thinking adults who I absolutely couldn't live without.  Thanks for listening.

melissa (2 years ago)

Your baby is adorable! I have had a pretty hectic summer because I have a family member that has glioblastoma brain cancer. I have tried to make the best out of my summer by spending time with the family and my adorable 6 year old!

Other than that we just did the same old thing of comuting back and forth to work and enjoying time at home. I wish it were more exciting but we just couldn't seem to get much more time off work. UGH!!! (We did grow some great tomatoes though.)

Jen(2 years ago)

We just moved from Las Vegas (like Emily) to Idaho. So we really didnt go on any vacation, but I will tell you one thing, Idaho weather is so much better than Vegas weather, & the people are so friendly here, so it is kind of like a vacation. : ) BTW cute little guy you have there!

Becca(2 years ago)

My summer was spent full of bbq's, 1 family reunion, lots of birthdays, two fairs, and trying to survive the scorching heat while being pregnant!! I cannot wait for this kid to pop out and I especially cannot wait for the weather to cool off!!!

Bobby(2 years ago)

One thing that I always dreaded, as I enjoyed my summer vacations as a child, was the knowledge that, come September, I would have to write an essay about it. The more cool stuff I did the more I would have to write, so I kept my summer fun to a minimum, usually 50 words or less. Wouldnâ??t it be interesting to ask teachers to write about their summer vacations? As a school principal, I would always begin by back-to-school teacher meetings with exactly that question: What did you do on your summer vacation? It was clear their summer had been the rejuvenating experience we all desire. Their batteries were recharged and they were raring to go, ready to take on the challenges and joys the new school year would provide.  Many believe that in order to â??recharge our batteriesâ?? we must take off 10 weeks and just relax. This is a mistake. We all know that you do not recharge a battery by taking it out of the electrical appliance and letting it rest. Putting the battery on the table for a few months will not recharge anything; the battery will simply retain the power level that remained before being removed (or slowly drain whatever power remained). Obviously, in order to recharge the battery you must plug it in to an active power source. People are no different.

We watched our first home get built all summer, from May till next week! All our extra funds have gone into the build and to our new RC Willey furniture which will also be delivered next week. So, there was no vacation for us this summer, but it will be worth it once we move in. Can't wait, and welcome back Andie.

mckenzie(2 years ago)

We recently bought a new home so our summer was filled with working in the yard

Angela(2 years ago)

We did a stay-vacation this summer, but are planning a get away in the fall. Worked on the back yard trying to get the herb garden to take. Over all very product summer.

Amanda(2 years ago)

We gardened and camped in our redesigned backyard this summer. Our pumpkins are looking good for the fall and the corn is delicious!

I spent some of my summer visiting my parents in Jackpot, NV from Las Vegas. My air conditioner has not been working & my landlord never returns my call to fix it, and with the overwhelming heat, my mom drove out, picked up myself, my son & my 3 doggies. It's actually been a GREAT trip. Jackpot is a small town, where everyone knows each other & it's been so wonderful to hang out with my parents. I hadn't seen them in months!

My husband won a mini-vacation to the Oregon Coast for just him and I. It was tough leaving the kids at home, but we did have a wonderful time. We saw a concert in Portland, then spent two days on the beach in Lincoln City. We made our own glass floats at a glass shop, ate at some great restaurants, and really had a good time!

We had the best summer vacation we have ever had. We went to Disneyland with all 6 of our children, all their spouses except 1 and 11 of our 12 grandchildren. There were 23 of us in all. We all had matching T shirts with different family sayings on the back. What a wonderful week. We even came home still liking each other. I could send you a picture if you would like. Thanks, Bart

My wife and I a wonderful Summer. We visited Southern Utah's parks and the beauty their. Most of all we were going to leave Ogden at 9:00 and were packing our things in our car. About 8:30 our telephone rang and our Son told us that our 3rd Grandson, had decided to begin his life. We hurried and finished getting ready and went to the Hospital, where just about 1 hour later he was born. I don't know of a better Summer 2 Grandparents could have.

Tyson(2 years ago)

Congratulations! I had no idea you were expecting! Ariana and I are expecting our first any day now.

Lindsey(2 years ago)

My husband and I went and traveled around Europe for 2 weeks while his parents took care of our 2 1/2 year old son. We did it for fun, and to celebrate our 5 year anniversary!

Deanna(2 years ago)

Played Nintendo games with my autistic teen. We played Zelda Wind Waker and Luigi's Mansion. We had owned those games for years, and for some reason he didn't like them. We pulled them out this summer, and they were fun! We also visited with our son, DIL, and our 4 month old granddaughter (our first grandbaby!).

Stacy(2 years ago)

My son went fishing for the first time and caught his first fish! Stayed busy doing lots of outdoor activities:) Lots of seven peaks with the kids, went canoing for the first time, made lots of great memories.

Allen(2 years ago)

My wife and I had a wonderful Summer. We went on vacation to Southern Utah and visited the wonderful sights there. We were going to leave Ogden at 9:00 A. M. when our Son called at 8:30, to let us know that their 3rd Son had decided to begin his life with his Wonderful Parents and 2 older brothers. It was quite a day, but I don't know of a better Summer a family could have. It was wonderful to have a new Hansome young man, and we are so proud of him.

J Bryan(2 years ago)

My wife, her 2 kids and I all took a trip after her youngest earned enough "stars" to go to Disneyland. We were still able to make it a surprise to them AND we used our season pass for the last time at Universal Studios then followed it up with a visit to Disney's California Adventure. I remembered it as being so "hum-drum" before, but the new CarsLand is amazing! Well that and those addictive turkey legs... Anyway,it was a great short vacation with the family; my first of the kind ever.

Hyrum(2 years ago)

Had a great family reunion in Yellowstone. First time for my 9-year old son, who enjoyed it except for the "stinky sulphur smells." Also enjoyed seeing Les Mis at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Highly recommended!

Carrie(2 years ago)

No summer vacation for me but, I am buying my first house and studying for my licensing exam. So all in all, a busy summer!!! Congrats on the baby - he is beautiful!

Nicole W.(2 years ago)

We had a FANTASTIC summer vacation, but my favorite part of this summer was going to all the water parks and lakes! We did weekly trips to water places (North Shore, Cherry Hill, Bear Lake) and the kids had such a fantastic time!

MaryJo(2 years ago)

I'm just enjoying being healthy I had 6 surgeries in just over a year ( knees and wrist) This Sept 1st will be a one year mark for me since my last surgery so Yea me!

Leslie Innes(2 years ago)

The best part of my summer was taking our old 1970s motorhome out to Starvation reservoir with the whole family. Camping in the heat with a cold but refreshing lake to jump into was wonderful. Building amazing sandcastles, with moats and all, with the kids was fun. But water skiing  on the glass like water in the morning and evenings was the best! The only bad part was it was a short trip and we. Pulsing light a fire for good ole s'mores.

Megan(2 years ago)

Hosted two different parties for 25 people; a Luau and a happy un-birthday party for 11 nieces and nephews and the parents....I don't have kids so it was just a normal work day. AUG 31st is my birthday...Just saying, it would be an awesome gift.

Sara(2 years ago)

We spent all summer jackhammering concrete, pulling up old tile and cement board then relaying new cement board and 250 tiles in the kitchen and two baths. No fun at all.

Tara (2 years ago)

Spent a week with my wonderful family in Panama City Beach, Florida for my 30th birthday!  It was a birthday I will never forget, especially because I was able to spend it with my brother that lives in Maryland!  Don't get to see him enough as I would like.

Help Wanted

We need your opinions!  Our bedroom and dining furniture buyer just got back from market and is trying to decide which pieces to pick up and start selling at our RC Willey store locations.  She's still debating when it comes to a few products, and I told her that I'm sure you guys would be happy to throw in your two cents to help her come to a decision!  If you have a few moments, look at the photos below and answer the questions in the comments section!  Sorry for the poor picture quality- it's all we've got right now because they are so new......

1. Would you buy this dining set?

The set is all black and white.  There is black tile in the center of the table, and it comes in standard or counter height.

2. What do you think of this new youth bedroom set?

3. Like this table set?

4. Do you think this youth daybed/trundle would sell?

5. Would you buy this set for a youth bedroom or second bedroom in your home?

6. What do you think of this master bedroom set?

Are you getting tired of black bedroom furniture, or do you still like it?

Thanks for your feedback!

Also, Congratulations to our two Mother's Day Giveaway Winners, Christina & Debbie!  Christina won the garden bench, and Debbie won the patio swing!  Ladies, contact me at andie@rcwilley.com so that we can get you your free patio furniture before Mother's Day!

1. Love the design & black & white-perfect,love double seating idea! 2. LOVE the children's bedroom set, the type of set that would grow with the child. 3. Sorry, I wouldn't buy that at a yard sale. 4. Daybed/trundle is great! Grow with the child, or guest room.Great Storage. 5. Wish I had this set in my room! Perfect. Love the storage! 6. Classy, King of all sets! The best!!

VW(2 years ago)

#1 Don't like black and white or the double chairs. #2 Like it a lot- classic and simple. #3 Can't tell from photo- would have to see it in person. #4 Bulky and ugly. #5 Too modern and boxy looking. #6 Too ornate.

sherry (2 years ago)

1 Yes Like it 2 yes it is very nice good for a little girl to a teen and first apt 3 no yucky 4 yes good for small room at extra room 5 I like this 6 nice but not my style but very pritty

Ayesha(2 years ago)

6. Is GORGEOUS!!! Just the thing I'm looking for!

Birgitte(2 years ago)

1. Maybe. Love tile on tables, not sold on the bench. 2. Looks too expensive for a youth set. 3. No. Looks cheap and rusty. 4. Yes. Functional, sturdy and good looking. 5. Maybe. It's cool, but kind of niche. If I bought a mid-century modern house it would be great. 6. LOVE it. Not trendy at all, classic.

Ramona(2 years ago)

I think it would all sell. I love some of the furniture and some I think well that's different but cute.

Alicia(2 years ago)

#1- It looks great, but I don't buy chairs with fabric on the seats, nor would I buy a table with tile in the middle. Too many crevices for crumbs and bacteria. #2 Looks old fashioned, I don't like the metal detailing. Looks like it's supposed to be for a girl, but it's not pretty. #3 You'd have to have just the right room for this table to look good in it. Even if I had the perfect room for it, I'd only consider buying it if it were $20 at a yard sale. #4- Love this! Practical and it looks great. Great for storing treasures, and the trundle bed would be perfect for sleepovers or other guests. #5 Too nice for a youth bedroom, seems more like a master bedroom set. I like it, but it might look too piece-y and chunky. Storage is great. #6 - Awful. Way too masculine and bold for me. Looks like it belongs on a chess board. I'd hate it even if it weren't black.

Barbara(2 years ago)

1- Not my style 2- Very 70s . . . and not in a good way. 3- Not so much. 4- Possibly 5- Again, not my style. 6- I like black furniture, but can't say I like this set in black.

Roberta Smith(2 years ago)

Love 1, 2 no, 3 this would be a fun game room table, 4 like, 5 like, 6 It would be like you were a QUEEN. I think black will always be in. Andie my Daughter Mckenzie tells me you about ready to have a baby Congrats!!!

MF(2 years ago)

I like them all. I am not personally a black-and-white style guy, but I would be happy to see them in a friends house. I partially like number 4, especially if it will work as bed/sofa in a home-office cum spare bedroom. In fact, I may be looking for just such a thing...

Susan(2 years ago)

Numbers 1 and 2 I like very much... One of my favorite looks is painted white furniture in front of a dynamic wall, so number 1 is right up my alley... Number 3... FORGET IT! Honestly, it looks like you might have picked it out of a dumpster... This MUST look better in person, otherwise, I am sure you would not even consider selling it. 4 I LOVE and would not hesitate putting into a child's room, but 5... No thanks. Just looks kind of odd to me. 6 is fabulous! Stop it RC Willey! You are making me want to go furniture shopping! :-)

Tiffany(2 years ago)

#3 and #6 YES. #4 NO #1 yes #2 yes #5 no

Have you been working on getting your yard/patio in tip-top condition?  Here are some beautiful patios that are getting me inspired in my quest to create a relaxing, comfortable patio this season.......

There is not a better more loving mom out there more than my mom! She is a single mom of five who is also deaf. Mom is very protective of us kids, even today, as adults. Because of her disability, we never had a lot of money, but my mom was always able to make her pennies stretch for miles. She became very creative as a cook with limited income to make sure we were fed and even clothed. Mom is unconditionally loving and without guile. You would never know that the world's odds are placed against her... She just keeps going with a smile. Happy mothers day to mine and all mom's!

My mom is the most unselfish person. She is always taking care of everyone else before she thinks of herself. There has been a lot of tragedy in our family and she is the one that holds us all together and is always dependable. She is only a phone call away. I love my mom and I think she is the best!!

Kristin(2 years ago)

I love and admire my mom to the stars and back. She has a heart with unconditional love and strength to go with it. She always goes the extra 50 miles trying to make everyone around her feel special and appreciated, whether its co-workers, friends, family or a complete stranger. My mom is the most special lady I know! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

Dave(2 years ago)

My mom is awesome. He always seems to have the exact advice I need, right when I need it!

The thing I love most about my mom is also the thing I most hate. She works and works and works. At home, the office, with family, helping others - she is an amazing example. She does so much though I worry about her health and that she is going to burn herself out. Regardless, I love her so much!

Jaclyn(2 years ago)

I love my mom because she is never afraid to be herself, in all her weirdness. She always puts her kids first, even though I wish she would treat herself every once in a while.

SunRae(2 years ago)

What I love most about my mom is that she is always there for me in good times and bad.

My mother can be tough as nails but as soft as a feather. She loves to sit in her beautiful flower garden and drink coffee. She is the strength that holds the family together during hard times and losses.

What i love most about my mom is definitely her cooking, i learned from the best ;). Also the fact she dealt with me, lord knows i'll have my hands full if any of my three little ones give me as a hard of a time as i gave my mom growing up and i commend her for doing such a good job

This will sound silly but what I LOVE most about my mom is her accent. I can't imagine her saying I love you without it. There is no one on this planet that says it the same way she does. It warms my heart to hear through her heavy Asian accent say, I love-ah you!

jim(2 years ago)

My mother is kind, big hearted and makes us all feel loved.

paula(2 years ago)

She is a go getter.

Cindy M(2 years ago)

My mom is the strongest woman I know. She has fought cancer, battle my dad's Alzheimer's and taken care of any one who needs help. If someone needs a meal, she provides it. If someone needs a ride, she takes them where they need to go. She has stood by each of us kids through the good and bad. She is there for us, our kids, her sisters and brothers, and so many more. I would not be the person I am today if it was not for her unconditional love and support.

Elizabeth(2 years ago)

Her unconditional love and concern for her children. I had major surgery scheduled earlier this year. My mom was admitted to the hospital a few days before (in the ICU) and true to her nature she was more concerned about me than herself. Fortunately we both made it through without complication.

Dana(2 years ago)

My mother is not only my mother, she is my best friend. I can count on her, regardless. I know that she will always be there for me.....

Amy(2 years ago)

My was a great role model for me on how to raise a beautiful family of my own.

Billy(2 years ago)

My mom is one tough lady - she took care of my infant son when he was born with cancer. A month after that my dad was diagnosed with a blood disorder - she took care of him for 3 years until it took his life. In the middle of that, my brother was murdered so she had that to deal with. She was also diagnosed with cancer and has since gone into remission. Through all of this, she always says "aren't we lucky". I asked her why she would possibly think we're lucky. She said at least we had you dad and brother for a while and we're still here to remember and honor them.

Dennis(2 years ago)

My mom has done so much for me & is always there for me. I owe her so much. I'm so grateful to have a mom like mine

Jordan(2 years ago)

One trait I really love about my mother is her ability to rejoice in the good times and move forward in the bad times. I learned from her that we can't always control what happens to us, but we can choose how we react. I hope to teach that to my own children.

Deanna(2 years ago)

My mom is turning 82 this month, and she is still the one who goes around picking up her friends to take them to doctor's appointments, watches my autistic teen sometimes, and gets on the lawn tractor to mow the lawn!

Josh Tyler(2 years ago)

My momma is and always has been a huge influence in my life. She is the one I give full credit to for showing me morals in life and also being there for me when I made not the best of choices to let me know, It's not the end of the world, but don't make the same mistakes over and over again. She is one of the reasons I walk around with my head held high cause I know from her I have unconditional love, who could ask for anything more out of a mother?

melissa(2 years ago)

My mother is an amazing women and she did a great job raising me and my siblings as a single parent! She did all of this and still had time to teach us good values and was/is a great role model. She puts everyone before herself and is always there in time of need! She is a wonderful grandma! She just moved into a new home that needs a lot of work done on the yard and me and my siblings have been trying to help her. She loves to sit on her porch after she gets home from work and I am a broke college student ... this would be a wonderful addition to her yard since we are trying to fix it up for her right now. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

Amber(2 years ago)

What I love most about my mom is that even through all of her health struggles she has always been by my side emotionally and shown me how important it is to be a family.

Nate(2 years ago)

My mom has always been there to encourage me even when I was failing. She always had faith and knew what to say to help me get where I am today.

Dezi(2 years ago)

I love my mom's example. She's always inspiring me to be better w/o having to speak words.

Wayne(2 years ago)

I feel EXTREMELY fortunate, in that I have not ONE, but TWO ladies I consider WONDERFUL Mothers!! My own Mother was a teacher and a pastor?s wife? She was able to put a meal on the table that would feed 6, including 3 boys with VERY hearty appetites, and we left the table full and happy!!! The OTHER lady is my Mother-in-law, and I have to say that NONE of the Mother-in-law jokes I?ve EVER heard fit her!! She?s the SWEETEST lady you?ll EVER meet, and she did a WONDERFUL job of raising my Beautiful Bride!! I HOPE and PRAY that we do as well with our daughter!! Maybe I should count my wife, and claim THREE ladies!!

Kevin(2 years ago)

Me mom always has good healthy advise for me and my family!

Lynette(2 years ago)

The thing that I love most about my mom is that she has never acted like she was perfect. She has always been real and human. By being honest about her frailties and humanity, she taught me to be the same. She taught me that it is okay to make "mis-takes" and her love, caring, and generosity are unconditional. I guess I just love that she is who she is:-) Thanks Mom!

Megan(2 years ago)

I have had seizures for 13 years now since i was 12 and my mother has always been there for me. Helping me cope with this. Its been very hard for me and for my mother. She sticks by my side and guides me. I don't have much to give her and I think this would be awsome to give her and thank her for all she has done for me. I owe her everything. :D thank you mom

Christy Cope(2 years ago)

My mom is my hero. She became a mom when I was two months old - 16 years ago. I have two older brothers. She has never received child support, yet has always worked hard to support us and has had flexible jobs to be home when we are. She has never missed a game or event of ours. She rarely complains and always gets up and gets things done. Her children are her world. She just returned to college and just started a business. I am so proud of her. She has never had anything new like this swing. I would love to give this swing to her for mother's day. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest.

Annette(2 years ago)

I Love my mom's example of kindness. I have learned to lead with love from her.

Christy Cope(2 years ago)

I am 16 and I have two older brothers. My mom has been a single mom since I was two months old. She has never received child support. We rarely heard her complain about anything. She just got up and kept things going. She is a hero -- she believes in miracles and knows that we have been blessed in some way everyday of our lives. She always worked jobs that were flexible so that she could be home with us. I was too small to remember, but one of her jobs she would get up at 4:00am in the morning and sew until we woke up and then sew til late at night to finish her work. My mom is a stalwart. She has never had anything new like this patio furniture. She would love it and I would love you if you picked her. What a great mothers day gift it would be. Thank you so much for this chance to enter.

sherry (2 years ago)

I am so lucky I have a wonderful kind mom that has always put others before herself. I love my Momma.

Laura(2 years ago)

What I love most about my Mother (in law) is that she is the most gracious, forgiving, loving and accepting woman I have ever met. I am really blessed to be her "Daughter". Our Mothers day gift to her this year is taking care of her mowing, weeding and planting. A new bench/swing would make a great addition to her patio! Thanks!

Shannon S(2 years ago)

I love my mom because she always gave me time and understanding. She also let me make my own mistakes. She is all mine.

sharon(2 years ago)

My Mom passed away about 3 yrs. ago and I still miss and love her so much, but this year I'm thinking about my Dear MOTHER-in-LAW. We just Lost my Father-in-Law 2 days ago. He was hurt in accident 38 yrs. ago and my MOTHER-in-Law has been his constant caretaker for those 38 yr., he was paralyzed from the waist down and in wheelchair all those years. She has been the most loving caretaker and Mother anyone could ever ask for. We will have his funeral Monday, and I would love to give her the Swing for Mother's Day. She definately deserves it.

Brenda(2 years ago)

I love that my mom is a strong independent woman and a great example for me and my 5 girls.

My Mom passed away this past October at 96 years of age. I have had the priviledge and honor of being her caretaker for the last 6 years and it was the most amazing time of my life. What a tremendous opportunity to be close to her once again and return in-kind some of the love and tender care she gave me while raising me. Everyone that knew her counter her a friend and an inspiration. There were some that could ruffle her feathers at times but mostly she was a live and let live type of person and the most giving soul I've ever met. So many friends and relatives are beneficiaries of her craft creations; knit slippers, blankets scarfs, and beanies or crotch wash cloths and doilies. If I were chosen for these gifts, I would add a plackard to them that would say, "To the greatest Mom in the world".

I love that she remembers everything and makes each holiday special for my kids!

JACKIE(2 years ago)

All of these patio gardens are lovely and my mom would enjoy sitting in a chair sipping iced tea at once of them! She is 90 years young and still living life to the fullest! We are blessed to still have her with us! Thank you!

Wandakay(2 years ago)

My Mom Means Everything to Me. Shes not only my mom but shes my best friend, shes always been there when I needed her the most, with advise when I have needed it, She has helped me in more ways then she will ever know. She worries about my health problems & helps me out sometimes more then I wish she had to, I should be the one taking care of her as her. My Mom Is the Best , I Love You Mom & Thank You For Everything !! Happy Mothers Day..

Frieda(2 years ago)

What I love most about my mom is that she has unconditional love ~ she adopted all four of us children as babies and now she is taking care of my sweet Dad, who is 82 years young. I only hope to give back to her more than she's given me!

Monette(2 years ago)

What I love most about my mom is she is always proud of my brothers and I, no matter how small our accomplishment is, she is always there with that big smile and sparkle in her eye that says "good job honey."

Amber(2 years ago)

What I love most about my mom is she is there no matter what and she is the best! Also we love to go concerts with the family when we get the chance and go shopping.

Allison(2 years ago)

My mom has always been and will always be there for me. Through all my trials she is there to comfort and guide. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Cindy(2 years ago)

My mom passed away in 1995, breast cancer. I have her to thank for teaching me how to mother. My son was on the receiving end of my mom education. Thanks mom with your help I became a woman, mother and wife.

Kristin(2 years ago)

My mom is an amazing grandma to my children. She spoils them not with material things but with time and attention. She's never too busy to spend time with them and my children adore her.

Raquel(2 years ago)

What I love most about my Mom is that she has dedicated her life to caring for others. She always was there for us as kids, at games, events, vacations, sad time, good times and all the time. But, my mother was always there for others too. See she is a Licensed Nurse and works in elderly care centers. She made all the patients part of our family. We would go early to pick her up so we could visit the patients. My Mom gave me a lot of grandma's and grandpa's for sure. Her giving and caring nature made a huge impact on who my sisters and I became as adults. We care about strangers as much as our best friends. We care enough to give a lonely or sad person a hug, just because they need it. Most of all we care about our Mom who gave so much love to others yet never came short on love for us.

Kimberly(2 years ago)

She sacrificed so much to raise me and my siblings.

Svitlana(2 years ago)

I just want to say that my mother-in-law is one of the most caring loving individuals I have ever encountered. We have our differences, but in the end of the day I couldn't have picked a better grandma for my girls. Love that she makes everything from scratch and insists on family dinners and celebrations. Every time there is an event she and grandpa put a lot of effort into recognizing the person we are celebrating. She would love the swing! Thanks, Carol!

Stacy(2 years ago)

My mom is the strongest woman I know. What a great example she is not just to me but anyone fortunate enough to know her. She volunteers all her time helping in some way. What a blessing she is. I love her for who she has taught me to be!

Chad & Justin(2 years ago)

Our mother works 24/7 for a family of 6 people..taking care of everyone's needs & wants as well, she never takes a break or gets time for herself but her words to us are "Son, I do it because I love you" & "It is my pleasure to serve you" & "it is my joy to serve my family". We love our mom because she puts our family first and others as well, she takes in exchange students, she prepares the most wonderful yummy daily home made, healthy meals and we love just who she is. She is the best mom for us and does her best daily in her daily service to our family and deserves a break!

Huma(2 years ago)

I am expecting a baby and my mom has travelled 20+ hours to be with me during this special time. She has been helping out with the household chores and also with my toddler. What's not to love about her! My due date is on mother's day, and my mom will be here with me...what a special mother's day it will be.

sherry (2 years ago)

My Mom is a wonderful kind women that always puts her kids first. I love my Momma!

Evie(2 years ago)

The feeling right now just sharing why i love her so much is , I am so Lucky to still have her here with me and know the meaning of unconditional love. To know that all the little saying she says to me and i would think how silly they are I know look at my daughter and tell her the same things. To know the sacrafices she has made and the struggles make me appreciate her even more. I trully believe the greatest love of all that i could ever ask for is from my mom. I pray that i am blessed to have her in my life forever. I am a brave strong women because of her.

Tissiana(2 years ago)

I love my mom because she is a fighter in so many ways. In a third world country where lack of opportunities is common yet she arose every day believing that she had what it takes to rise 4 children by herself and rise them well. Despite how hard the circumstances she never let her children go hungry and best of all despite all I never heard a regret, complaint nor did I ever see a tear but only smiles and a cheerful attitud. I OWN her not only my life but what I am. I adore her and hope one day I become as strong as she is.

Jennie(2 years ago)

My mom is my best friend! I never have known a more thoughtful, kind person! She is always there to listen and give advice when I have needed it. She hasn't had an easy life, yet she hasn't allowed her challenges/disappointments/trials let her become bitter. She continues to move forward, forgiving those who have hurt her, and always seeing the best in everyone and in every situation!!

Shawn McEntire(2 years ago)

The things i love most about my mom are the little things my mom does the best. She puts up with all of us kids and makes sure no matter what one of us needs, that we get it even when she may not have the money or time to do it. She is always looking out for the kids first and her needs second. She is the best and I would love to give her a gift like this! Thanks Shawn

I would love to win this for my Mom, she is 86 years old and has always but everyone before herself. She lives in the small town of Parowan on Main Street and I live in St George, she loves to set outside and visit. She would love this. Thanks!!!

Robert(2 years ago)

My mom has a swing on her back patio like this and it is one of the popular places to find the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While I don't have the crab apple blossoms and the shade, I do have a huge project started to rebuild our patio. Both of these would fit in nicely. The swing would be a nice spot to relax and look at the mountains. While the garden bench would work great for my wife and me - since we never seen to be looking in the same direction.

Tammy(2 years ago)

I miss my mom who died of breast cancer at Christmas 2004. What I miss the most is her undaunted spirit of never giving up! She battled cancer with a big smile, no complaints and helped so many others along her journey, right to the very end. I miss being able to talk to her daily on the phone as she lived very far away. Thinking of her for Mother's Day and always!

Lisa(2 years ago)

My mom worked so hard to raise all 5 of us yet she always had time to sit down and play a game with me or read a book with me. And now that she is a Grandma she does the same thing with my daughter.

Lori(2 years ago)

The thing that I love most about my mom is her 83 year old sweet sweet smile!!

As the old song goes "You don't know what you've got until you lose it." Wish my mom were here today. This will be the first Mother's Day without her. She was one of the sweetest people ever!

Bessie Louise Burnsed(2 years ago)

My mother gave me 14 siblings to keep me whole. I only wish she could see them now and enjoy the grand kids we gave her. These prizes would be a perfect fitting for my yard of which my siblings can all enjoy. Thanks again.

Lawn Mower 101 PLUS Patio Furniture Giveaway!

For the past couple years my husband and I had been apartment dwellers.  Now that we're living in a house this will be the first summer we've had the responsibility/opportunity to take care of a yard together.  We're both really excited about it!  Unfortunately the poor lawn is definitely begging to be mowed, but we still don't have a lawn mower.  Yet, that is.

via inhabitat- as cool as this mowercycle looks, I think it would get old real fast.

After doing a little research I've been shocked at how many different kinds of lawn mowers are out there.  It's actually quite overwhelming.  According to Jessica Groach, a Lawnmower columnist, there are 6 questions you should ask yourself before you start shopping for a lawn mower:

1. How big is your lawn?

2. Are there any slopes or steep grades?

3. Are there obstacles like trees or flower beds?

4. How dense is your grass?

5. What is your environment like? (Is noise or air pollution a concern for your neighbors?)

6. How much can you spend?

Once you've answered these questions, it might be a bit easier to navigate through the world of lawn mowers to find which one is right for you and your yard.  Here are some of the basics to get you started....

Self-Propelled Mowers:  If you have a large and or sloped yard, you'll want a self-propelled mower.  Most of them have adjustable speeds so that you can set it at a pace that's comfortable for you.  This type of mower is a dream for people who want lawn mowing to be pretty easy and effortless.

Push Mowers: While push mowers are much less complex and costly than self-propelled mowers, the downside is that they are a lot harder to push!  So, if you have a fairly level and small yard, or you want to get a work-out when you mow your lawn, a push mower might be the way for you to go!

Electric Mowers: These mowers have a lot of great benefits- they're easy to start, are super quiet, and are good for the environment since they don't use gas.  There are a few drawbacks though- the biggest being the fact that many require cords.  Cordless versions are available, but the battery drains in about an hour.  You'll also have to cut more often since they aren't designed for deep cutting.

Reel Mowers:  Believe it or not, these retro mowers seem to be making a comeback as yards get smaller and houses are getting closer together.  They actually cut closer than motorized mowers, so you don't have to cut as frequently... but when you do, it's a LOT of work.

Riding Mowers:  If you're lawn is an acre or larger, don't even think about getting anything besides a riding mower!  Yes, they are expensive, but mowing is effortless and quite fun!

And if you really want to be a trend setter among your friends and neighbors, consider forking out the dough ($2,800) for this Eco Friendly Robotic Mower!  Technology has really come a long way over the years.  I think we'll most likely end up purchasing some sort of self-propelled mower, although I'd take the robotic mower if someone gave it to me!

Last but not least, I'm going to give this Four Season Mosaic Tile Bench to a reader for our weekly patio giveaway!  It's the perfect outdoor accessory to spruce up your yard, garden, or patio.  To enter, simply become a blog follower if you aren't already, and leave a comment telling me what kind of lawn mower you prefer using! (Or would like to use:)  I'll pick a random winner next Thursday, April 19th at 11:00 am MST.  Good Luck!

P.S. Need a lawn mower?  Check out RC Willey's selection!

an electric...but if I had a big enough yard to warrant it I would definitely go for the riding lawn mower!

Janette(2 years ago)

Who wouldn't want a robotic lawn mower? Of course, anything that saves time is welcome.

Kevin(2 years ago)

I'm definitely a push mower fan. I need the workout and they are easy enough to maintain even for an engineering numbskull like me! :)

Charlene Becker(2 years ago)

A self propelled mower for sure!! Probably a Craftsman. I'm a girl, I definitely want it to be easy (if I have to mow it!) ;)

Lisa Miller(2 years ago)

We moved into our home in June and we have a pretty big yard. I would love a self propelled-to get the job done a little faster. Some sloping, 8 fruit trees, and quite a bit of grass.

Sharon(2 years ago)

I like using a self propelled mower.

Nancy(2 years ago)

Any self-propelled mower! We recently left ours with our last home when we moved a chronically ill son and his family into our home and moved on...

Dezi A(2 years ago)

I love the push mowers, we've only ever had a flat lawn and I love the workout I get form it. But my husband went out and bought a self propelled one. Lazy. ;)

Jessie(2 years ago)

I would love that lawnmower pictured about that you ride like a bike! Get yard work and your work out done at the same time! That's awesome. Hey, by the way, that patio bench would look so good on my porch... ;-)

Craig(2 years ago)

I'd like to use a riding mower, but I'll need a bigger yard too.

Wayne(2 years ago)

I'd prefer a riding mower, which would mean I'd have a MUCH bigger yard that I do now, but our self-propelled works REAL WELL for the size yard we have...

Pauline(2 years ago)

Defineitly self propelled mower, but more importantly I would like a handsome blue eyed man to come along with the purchase and I can sit on your lovely mosaic bench and enjoy the summer mowing season. ;)

Betty Stromberg(2 years ago)

Something that is not so hard to push!

Michelle(2 years ago)

We have a self propelled hand mower and an OLD riding lawn mower. We have a large yard and the kids help ;)

AngelaS(2 years ago)

I prefer to use the self-propelled mowers. Very nice.

Lauralee(2 years ago)

After two years of dirt, I'm hoping to put in a yard this spring. A self-propelled laen mower would be amazing!!

Tanya Herrera(2 years ago)

I prefer Electric Mowers!!!

Molly(2 years ago)

I prefer (and own) a push mower. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have no problem pushing the mower. It's quick, it's easy and doesn't take up a lot of storage space in the garage. :)

Shannon(2 years ago)

regular old gas push mower does the trick.:)

Sara(2 years ago)

We use a standard push lawnmower to combine exercise with outside upkeep. The only way to stay fit is to keep moving! A bench would be great to relax later.

Carrie(2 years ago)

We use a riding mower, which is really nice since we have 1/2 acre to mow... I would love to have a beautiful bench to sit on the patio with a tall glass of lemonade and watch my husband or grandson mow our lawn... The riding mower is just the greatest things to have when you are among the older generation, it doesnt take very long to the the mowing done.

Bobby(2 years ago)

About 2 years ago I was able to turn in my old gas lawn mower for an efficient batter powered one for one third the price and will not be going back! It's cheaper to operate and is much better for the environment.

We have a teenage mower. He gets the job done on a riding one. It is very convienent but sometimes he needs supervision which could be done very comfortably from the very nice patio furniture with a big cup of ice tea!!

I would love to own a electric lawn mower i have heard great things about them. As of now me and my husband have been borrowing our neighbors which is getting very old also i worry that my teenage son may accidently break it so its been intresting reading about all the different lawn mowers!

Tom(2 years ago)

i have an electric mower and i love it. Wouldnt ever trade it for gas.

Chris(2 years ago)

We have an electric lawn mower an we love it! Although a ride on would be nice, it's just not necessary. I have the perfect spot for this bench by the way...just sayin"!

Chris(2 years ago)

We love our electric mower! However, a riding mower would just be fun! BTW, I have the perfect spot for that bench...just sayin'...!

susan watts(2 years ago)

it would be nice to have good to good lawn mower that runs i dont have to fix every hair

susan watts(2 years ago)

it wiuld be nice to have some patio furniture for my deck thanks

Patricia Mohl(2 years ago)

We have a self propelled for about 14 years that has seen better days but still works great.

Danny(2 years ago)

I've got a battery powered mower so I'm eco friendly. The only problem is it isn't quite as powerful as a gas mower, but it works.

Brenda(2 years ago)

My yard isn't big enough for a riding lawnmower to bad. I am glad that there are self propelled. Not as much work to push it around.

Chris(2 years ago)

We have an electric lawn mower an we love it! Although a ride on would be nice, it's just not necessary. I have the perfect spot for this bench by the way...just sayin"!

Linda(2 years ago)

I would love to own the cute bench and sit outside on beautiful summer nights.

Linda(2 years ago)

I would love to own the cute bench and sit outside on beautiful summer nights.

Cecilia(2 years ago)

I like my self-propelled Toro lawn mower. It works great. Course if I had the Eco Friendly Robotic Mower, I could sit on the Four Seasons Mosaic Tile Bench and watch the Eco Robotic Mower as it worked. That would be fun.

Alisha m. Anderson(2 years ago)

I would love to have the Eco friendly robotic mower, we have a big yard and would be a great time saver!!

Steven(2 years ago)

I wouldn't mind trying out a riding lawn mower for a change.

BETHANY(2 years ago)

I'd love a riding lawn mower like Forest Gump!

Steve $ Alicia Phillips(2 years ago)

We used a push mower last year and didn't mind, but finally broke down and got a gas powered one. I would love to sit in this beautiful bench and watch him mow :)

Steve $ Alicia Phillips(2 years ago)

Shawna(2 years ago)

I have a Push Mower. We don't have a big slope, but we have a lot of holes where are still trying to get grass to grow. It doesn't make it easy with a lot of pot holes. I mow about half of the time and would much prefer a self-prepelled mower.

Elaine(2 years ago)

Electric mower :)

Betty Betty (2 years ago)

I would love to use a ride on or self propelled mower then I would do it more often

Chris(2 years ago)

Would love a riding but we have a self propelled. My hubby does the lawn mowing, but I wouldn't mind doing it. Helps with the tan! Would love the bench, we added a cement slab in the back yard last year and have zero furniture to put on it as of yet :)

Kami(2 years ago)

I would love a riding mower...the kids would love it!

connie(2 years ago)

my favorite lawnmower is my grandmas old fashion push mower, but i would love to have that bike one in the photo !

Lee(2 years ago)

I would like the kind that is broken, so I have the excuse of having the boy next door come over and do it for me. I get to go fishing and he gets some money to spend. Helps me, in my small way, to keep the economy going!

Wandakay(2 years ago)

My disabled Son mows my lawn & some of the neighbors for extra money he's a very hard worker who loves to help everyone. He Really would just Love a ride on lawn mower... Thats all he ever talks about getting... This would make his day !

Tammy(2 years ago)

really need a lawn mower any kind , any shape, :)

Melissa (2 years ago)

I don't really need a riding lawn mower, but I would love a self propelled one!

Brandi(2 years ago)

We use the self propelled mower and it works great and gets the job done fast!

Molly(2 years ago)

I love the bicycle push mower! Exercise and lawn care all in one! My yard is almost a half acre and I use a self propelled to get the job done as quick as possible, though it still takes over an hour. No matter how big or small your yard is, always think of it as free exercise and choose the mower that will give you the best workout. :)

Wendy(2 years ago)

We have a big yard so definitely a riding mower. However the one we have is broken - hey maybe that could be your next giveaway (hint hint)

Holly(2 years ago)

I would love to just have a lawn service take care of my lawn. They could mow, edge, fertilize and I could just sit back and enjoy. Ok - I'll stop dreaming now. We have a self propelled mower. It is probably due for a good service before we really get going on the lawn mosing for the summer.

Shanel(2 years ago)

Riding mower all the way!

Deanna(2 years ago)

We have four acres of brush surrounding our lawn. A ride-on lawn mower is the type that would be the most useful, since it can be used to pull a wagon to haul stuff, too.

Desiree(2 years ago)

I'd prefer a Lawn Mower Scooter! I'm just lazy and would like to make mowing the lawn more fun...and a Lawn Mower Scooter is like a big adult toy. haha

Jane(2 years ago)

I have an lawn mower that we bought when we moved in. It still works but will probably need a new one soon.

Debbie(2 years ago)

My husband just bought a ride on zero turn fancy fast lawnmower

Staceylynn(2 years ago)

I have a really old push mower now which is good when I feel like I want a work out and its not too hot; but by midsummer I would do almost anything for a self-propelled mower. It's way too hard to push that heavy mower when it's 100 degrees outside!

Brook(2 years ago)

I use a push motor and actually really like it. It's great at mowing around my trees and maneuvering in my small yard.

Tamera Pack(2 years ago)

Riding lawn mower definitely!

Tamara(2 years ago)

We just bought a riding lawn mower 4 days ago and I can't wait to give it a go! Now if it would just stop raining. =)

Elena(2 years ago)

I would be greatful if I get lucky enough to win something...:)

Kenneth(2 years ago)

I have a self propelled mower. But need a ride on. Getting to old and I have a 1/2 acre front and 1/2 acre back. Plus I am Disabled with 3 fractures in my spine. But I love doing my yard work even knowing it just takes me longer to do.......

Matt(2 years ago)

I've got almost a half of an acre so riding mower, but I also use a small push mower to get around the edges and plants.

George(2 years ago)

Would love to win either one of these. I love RC Willey's

Ian(2 years ago)

We have a good gas powered, self propelled mower with a moderate sized yard. The biggest problem I've had is not actually with the mower but with motivating the kids to go out and take turns mowing :)

heather (2 years ago)

We live on a corner and our yard is about 10,000 square feet. Saying that a riding mower would help a ton with mowing. :)

Ron(2 years ago)

I prefer a riding lawn mower. I would really love to win the Four Season Mosaic Tile Bench. All I have in my yard right now are rocks. I could really use it! It would make my wife very happy!!

Yolanda(2 years ago)

Need a riding lawn mower since there is more than an acre to mow

Trina (2 years ago)

I would love a ride on lawn mower my yard is huge and has a big slope in the back that comes down toward the house. But I will deal with any lawn mower really just needs to be a good one.

Nate(2 years ago)

I like the excercise I get from a reel or push mower.

Erin(2 years ago)

I have a self propelled mower. We love it, but I love it even more when my teenage boys push it.

Stacie S-H(2 years ago)

A push mower is what I grew up using. A riding mower would be awesome, I could mow the front and "back" yard of our four-plex so quick but I think I'd still pick a push mower. I enjoy mowing the lawn, it is relaxing. Last year we convinced our landlords that we would mow the lawn instead of them hiring yard care people. This worked once and then the lawnmower , which was chained to a cement slab in the parking lot, was stolen one night as a person hacked the cement block to pieces and made off with our brand new mower. Pretty devastating, we only got to use it once! So our landlords gave up (this has happened in the past) and ended up hiring yard guys again. Such a bummer because they had to hire yard guys again and I miss that exercise.

Michael(2 years ago)

I will pass on the bike mower, I have a gas mower at this time that works good. The robotic lawn mower is amazing but I have a slope and not really even. Interesting thou.

paula(2 years ago)

My favorite lawn mower is the one someone else is using on my yard.

shelley(2 years ago)

Riding lawn mowers are the greatest!

Jennie(2 years ago)

We are just buying a house with a large back yard and are looking at getting a Self-Propelled Mower.

Kristy(2 years ago)

We have a push mower, which is fine because our yard is really small. I will take any kind of mower that actually works! We went for quite awhile borrowing one every month or so and that was a pain! That bench is so awesome, I've never seen anything like it!

Joddy(2 years ago)

Andie My husband tried to mow the lawn yesterday. He took five steps and we saw one of the wheels come off and roll down to the fence. I couldn't stop laughing. It was funnier seeing him mowing with a missing wheel. Priceless. Anything would help. Thanks.

At(2 years ago)

I have a broken down gas mower. I'm sure I will be in sometime this summer for a new one. The bench is really cute.

Terri(2 years ago)

Ha-ha, I love the bicycle mower it's hilarious. But I'm like you Andie, I'd take the robotic mower if it was given to me. For $2800 I'd just hire someone to mow my lawn for a couple of years :-) Love the bench, it would surely spruce up my deck and maybe I could get rid of a couple of the green plactic lawn chairs that are on it now. Good luck to everyone!

Jelissa (2 years ago)

HAha well I would totally love to see my husband mow a lawn with that Mowercycle lawn mower that is just awesome! If I cant have that then I would have to settle with the robotic mower! Its amazing the things they can invent now! We definatley need a bench outside now cause our one year old wants to be out there constantly and I cant stand that long being big and pregnant! :)

Ayme(2 years ago)

We had a riding mower and got rid of it for a self propelled one.

Teri(2 years ago)

I have a self propelled and love it. A riding mower would be nice. Thanks for the chance to win!

Cindy(2 years ago)

I'm already a blog follower, I enjoy the variety of topics you write about! Being an empty nester the yardwork is all up to me. I have a 1/3 acre yard so my self-propelled mower is great! I get a little exercise but don't kill myself. We recently put a pergola up with shades on one side for afternoon sun and I'm trying to find cool patio furniture for it. RC Willey has a great selection! And I think this cute checkerboard bench would be wonderful in it.

Jon(2 years ago)

I"m a blog follower ~ we have a push mower and I would really like to have a self-propelled mower.

Jon(2 years ago)

I'm a blog follower ~ we have a push mower and I would really like to have a self-propelled mower.

Carolyn(2 years ago)

A riding mower by far!

Tammi(2 years ago)

We have a gas powered push mower. My 10 year old son dreams of a riding lawn mower!

Sherrie(2 years ago)

Hello I'm a single mom with a big yard, I have kids to help me mow, we would love a lawn mower. Buying one just isn't a priority when you have to put food on the table. WE would be sooooo grateful to win patio furniture too!!!!! thanks for much for your blog and your care towards everyone.

Amy(2 years ago)

We need a riding lawn mower for our 5 acre patch of untamely lawn and orchard!

Tara(2 years ago)

I love reading (and commenting) on your blog! I currently have a third hand gas powered mower that doesn't run more often than it does. I would so LOVE to have a self propelled Craftsman or a Toro. (I would also LOVE to win this beautiful patio bench!)

Cindy(2 years ago)

push lawn mower with a leaf bag is the best for a small/medium lawn which I have. But if you have a huge hard a ride lawn mower is the way to go. This bench would look great in our yard with our patio table/chairs from R.C. Willey. Thank you!!!

Lori(2 years ago)

I'm a blog follower and right now we have a Craftsman gas powered, but I've always loved manual mowers...

Tamara(2 years ago)

My favorite lawn mower by far is my husband, it doesn't really matter which kind of mower he uses!

Lela(2 years ago)

I live in a condo, so my favorite lawn mower is the guy who mows the lawn every 10 days so I don't have to. lol. But if I had to do it myself, I'd prefer a self-propelled.

Christine A.(2 years ago)

We have a push mower, but so love the look and green energy of the Reel mower. Of course, I do not mow the yard so not sure how much extra work it is. Would be a wonderful workout green style all the way though.

Amanda(2 years ago)

I love being out on my lawn so I use both the push and gas mower--it makes me happy to see hard work pay off.

Jill(2 years ago)

It is nice to have any lawnmower! But, one that is self-propelled is nice! :)

Chase(2 years ago)

We just moved into our first home with a yard too! I'm still trying to figure out what we'll do with getting a lawn mower.

judy(2 years ago)

All different kinds of mowers and I only know how to use the old fashion one ya know the kind you pull the string it starts and you push.

Natalie(2 years ago)

Fortunately, I don't have to mow our lawn ;) My husband loves working on our yard. He really was glad to get a riding lawn mower a few years ago. Thanks for the giveaway! p.s. We have the perfect place for this fabulous bench

Kevin(2 years ago)

Just a regular, self propelled mower.

I and my husband have been having a lot of problem living together, he will always not make me happy because he have fallen in love with another lady outside our relationship, i tried my best to make sure that my husband leave this woman but the more i talk to him the more he makes me feel sad, so my marriage is now leading to divorce because he no longer gives me attention. so with all this pain and agony, i decided to contact this spell caster to see if things can work out between me and my husband again. the spell caster told me what i will do to get my husband back, so he told me that he was going to make all things normal back. he did the spell on my husband and after 5 days my husband changed completely he even apologize with the way he treated me that he was not him self, i really thank this priest his name is Dr HOODOO he have bring back my husband back to me i want you all to contact him who are having any problem related to marriage issue and relationship problem he will solve it for you. his email hoodoolovespell@yahoo.com

My son just got his first apartment and has the most amazing deck. He bought plants & a bird feeder, he cant afford furniture for it. Too many bills right now. He loves sitting out there, but he has an ugly folding chair he took out of the neighbors trash, hahaha, he cleaned it up! He volunteers his time at Middle Schools teaching students how to play guitar & bass, he heard all the music programs were dropped and he went into action. He is an amazing person. Thanks y

Make Your Own Coasters for Less than $1 Each!

I'm a big fan of coasters.  Not only do they protect your tables from unwanted water and beverage marks, but using them is also a fun and easy way to decorate your home!  The only downside is that nice coasters can be quite costly.  In my experience I've gotten them for about $8 a pop, which starts to get pretty expensive when you want to buy at least a dozen of them!

A few weeks ago my mom, sister-in-law and I were feeling crafty and decided to try making our own coasters.  I'm telling you, all of this time I had NO idea how fun, simple, and inexpensive it is to make your own!  I'll never buy another coaster for as along as I live!

We referred to a great tutorial online by two girls being crafty.  I would highly recommend looking at their post if you are going to mod podge your own coasters- the instructions are so detailed and easy to follow!

We started out by picking up a bunch of plain white ceramic tiles.  Nothing too fancy, just the most basic kind we could find.  Each tile cost only .22 cents.

Next, we picked out paper to mod podge onto our tiles.  I had been hanging on to some Amy Butler stationary for a while, and I decided this was the perfect time to put it to use!

We traced and cut out the paper to fit the tiles, then got our mod podge on!  First, we applied a coat of glue to the tile itself, then we laid down the paper on top and layered on another coat of glue right away.

We let all of the tiles dry for 15-20 minutes, then added a few more coats of mod podge for good measure.

After they had all dried, we glued felt to the bottoms (the last thing you want is a coaster that scratches up your furniture), then we sprayed them with a clear acrylic glossy spray for optimum shine.  Voila, check out the finished product!

I LOVE how they turned out.  I'd say they are just as cute, and just as functional as the coasters I got from Anthropology.  All in all, we figured that each coaster only cost about .60 to .80 cents to make.  That means I made 10 coasters for less than the price of one store bought coaster.  Awesome, right?

Congratulations to Jessica, our last Vacation Giveaway Winner!!  Jessica, email me your information so that we can send you guys on a much needed vacation for your anniversary!

Thanks for entering everyone!  I wish we could have given everyone who left a comment a vacation- heaven knows you all deserve one!

Can you use a 4 x 4 inch picture on photo paper as well on the tile? Would that work?

Mary Ann(11 months ago)

What kind of glue did you use before the mod podge?

They are beautiful!

Karen(1 year ago)

I love this idea! I've seen the glass plate frames and the painted tile, but never thought of applying other thing to the tile. My mom made me an apron, mats, and oven mitts out of pretty coffee fabric. She machine embroidered every design seperate before applying them to the patterns, so this is a great way for us to use up the last few squares of fabric! I can have coasters too, yay!! Thanks :-D

Lynda(2 years ago)

Great idea to add color to your home, I have several empty frames around the house, great idea. Also with this economy, people need to start making their own gifts. Also recycle your old tile to save it from the landfill. Thanks! Love it!

Charlene Becker(2 years ago)

I love these!! I scrapbook and stamp so these are perfect to show my customers and for GIFTS!! :) Thanks for sharing! (TFS)

Christine A. (2 years ago)

Very chic & sun room-esqe of you, please send me some. Thank you.

Jackie(2 years ago)

We have done something similar and used the felt pads but also cut a circle or square in the middle of the paper (or we used fabric) and lay a very thin piece of cork in to absorb fluids. They have worked perfectly. We did some for a birthday party also (not on ceramic tiles, just pieces of cork) and used the napkins for the look to match everything. They were a big hit!

Sheldon(2 years ago)

Also you can put the round sticky felt pads on the bottom so the don't scratch your tables. Helpful hint from a Home Depot employee. They can be found in hardware on aisle 20 at our store.

Daren(2 years ago)

To protect your furniture even more you can add felt to the underneath.
