Buying a new TV should be as relaxing and enjoyable as watching your favorite show, movie, or sport is in front of it. Sure, there are different technical specs, technologies, sizes, and styles to choose from, but don’t get bogged down in the details. RC Willey is here to help you make the right choice for your home!
If it’s been awhile since you’ve shopped for a new TV you may be shocked at how far screen resolution has come. RC Willey has the latest 8K TV and 4K TVs in stock, as well as OLED, QLED, Mini-LED, and LED televisions.
|Resolution||Lines of Resolution||Pixels|
|Full HD||1080p||2.1 Million|
|4K UHD||2160p||8 Million|
|8K UHD||4320p||33 Million|
The higher the lines of Resolution and total number of pixels, the more lifelike picture. 8K TVs and 4K TVs boast nearly 16x and 4x the resolution of Full HD respectively. Besides a higher resolution, 4K and 8K TVs feature better high dynamic range (HDR) for greater color depth and contrast. These TVs offer truly remarkable resolution. The images pop off the screen, putting you right in the middle of the action.
Today’s modern technology allows for TVs to be bigger and better than ever before. Because of the higher resolutions on 4K and 8K TVs, the bigger the screen, the more immersive, and unforgettable, the experience is. Today’s large screen TVs take up less space than previous models. Because of smaller bezels and frames, today’s 60 inch TV takes up about the same space as a 55-inch model from years past. That means more screen and less wasted space for any room in your home. RC Willey has TVs from 32 inches all the way up to 100 inches. Whether you are looking for a new television for your kitchen or living room, RC Willey has something for you.
When choosing a new TV it’s a good idea to begin with resolution and determine the right size for your space. A 4K or 8K TV will look great from any distance making size less important.
With more and more people “cutting the cable” and relying on streaming services for their entertainment, TV manufacturers have responded by adding WiFi capabilities to their products. These Smart TVs connect directly to your home’s WiFi network and feature shortcuts to your favorite streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, and more.
The sales team at your local RC Willey can help you find the right Smart TV for you and your family. Different brands may have different features and it can be helpful to get a hands-on demo before deciding which Smart TV is right for you.
Difference Between Mini-LED, OLED and LED
LED (light-emitting diode) TVs are the best-selling type of TV on the market today. These LED TVs deliver an excellent picture quality at an approachable price. These TVs are a great choice in rooms with unpredictable light and are particularly great for well-lit rooms.
So what is the deal with OLED? OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode and despite the similar name, it’s actually a completely different technology from LED TVs. OLED TVs feature a thin film of material that emits light that covers the entire screen. From there it gets a bit complicated, but essentially each pixel works independently to lighten up or darken the image. This means that OLED screens provide an extremely high degree of color accuracy, wider viewing angles, great contrast, and a blur-free image.
For an even clearer picture, try a Mini-LED TV. Mini-LEDs are up to 1/100th smaller than traditional LED. So what does this mean in terms of picture quality? You will get a clearer picture with more contrast than ever before. Shadows are darker and whites are brighter. All the details in your favorite TV shows and movies will come to life. To understand refresh rate it might help to start at the beginning. A refresh rate refers to the number of times per second that TVs change or “refresh” the image. These moving still images fool our brains into thinking that the still images we are seeing are moving. Pretty neat huh? Live TV shows are generally filmed at either 60 or 30 frames per second (FPS) and traditionally TVs have also had a refresh rate of 60. New TVs have higher refresh rates, up to 240hz. This means a smoother image on a clearer screen. It’s helpful to also consider that many TV manufacturers boast proprietary technology like LG’s TruMotion for example. The best way to find out what TV you like the best is to try them out. Come on in to any RC Willey and walk around our extensive TV showroom and pick the brains of the experts on hand.
