Need a New Mattress? You're In Luck!

Posted by Andie on May 27, 2010

I guess you could say I'm a little high maintenance when it comes to sleeping.  I've always enjoyed a pitch black room with my feather pillows and down comforter, but my obsession with sleep has gotten a lot worse lately.  I blame it on my new mattress.

Six months ago my husband and I were days away from getting married, and busy shopping for the household essentials.  Buying a mattress was at the top of our 'must have' list.  To aid us in our search, I went to my friend Brett, the mattress buyer here at RC Willey.  Lucky for us, he just so happened to have a whole slew of high end sample mattresses that different vendors had sent him, all of which were available at a fraction of the retail price.  We tested about 15 incredible mattresses.  The one that stood out to us, which we ended up buying, was a Natura.

Okay seriously, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.  You might think I'm being dramatic when I say that it's changed our lives for the better, but it's the truth.  Our Natura mattress is constructed from natural eco-friendly products, making it comfortable in every sense of the word.  I love the fact that not only is it comfortable to lay on, but wool inside of the mattress works to regulate my body temperature and wicks away moisture while I sleep.  That's my kind of mattress.  Even my husband, who has had horrible sleeping problems since he was a kid, is finally sleeping through the night without waking up every hour.  It's nothing short of a miracle. Thank You, Natura.

Unfortunately, RC Willey doesn't normally sell Natura Mattresses.  Ever since we got ours, I've been trying to convince Brett to start carrying them in our stores so that customers could benefit from a Natura mattress as much as my husband and I have!  Good News!  My wish was temporarily granted.  For one week only, during our Memorial Day Special, RC Willey is selling Natura Mattresses, at a MAJOR discounted price!!  It's pretty unbelievable...

A Queen Natura Mattress retails at $1,999.  This week only, you can get a $1,000 discount and take it home for only $999!!

A King Natura Mattress retails at $2,799.  This week only, buy it for $1,799.

Seriously people.  If there is anything you SHOULD be high maintenance about, it's the quality of your mattress.  You owe it to yourself, or your spouse.  Go in to any RC Willey store this weekend to check these out.  Happy Shopping!

Apartment Hunting... Cost vs. Cuteness

Posted by Andie on May 20, 2010

Does anyone else hate apartment shopping?  I despise the whole finding process almost as much as loathe packing boxes and moving out.  For the past month, husband and I have been looking for a new place to live.  We've driven around dozens of neighborhoods, walked through more apartments than I can remember, and studied every single listing on craigslist posted within the past 40 days.  And yet, nothing.

Maybe I'm too picky.

During this whole frustrating process I realized that men and women (at least husband and I) have very different qualifications and expectations when it comes to housing...

Important to husband:

1. Is it in a safe neighborhood?

2. How many square feet?  The bigger, the better.

3. How hard is it going to be to get our furniture into the building?

4. How much is rent?

Important to me:

1. Is it CLEAN???  This point is not optional.

2. Can I paint the walls?

3. What kind of condition is the carpet in?

4. How big are the closets??  I have a hard time getting rid of clothes....

5. How big is the kitchen? There must be room to bake.

6. What kind of shape are all the appliances in?

7. Is it CUTE?

8. Washer and dryer?

9. What are the neighbors like?

10. How much is rent?

Last night we finally found a place we both feel good about.  Hallelujah.  We're moving in this weekend.

Please remind me never to do this again.

The Grey Poupon of Laundry...

Posted by Andie on May 17, 2010

Have you ever tried washing a load of laundry by hand?  I don't recommend it.

My friend Brooke and I were living in London, and sick of wasting time and money at laundromats.  One day one of us had the bright idea to wash our dirty clothes ourselves at our flat.  In our bathtub.  How hard could it really be?

Well, we sure gave it a try....

Picture this: Our bathroom floor is flooded with soapy water.  It looks like a kiddie pool (minus the urine).  We are completely soaked.  I'm standing in the bathtub with my pants rolled up, struggling to rinse out the detergent from the two week pile of soapy clothes beneath me.  Brooke has one foot in the tub, and the other out on the tile as she's desperately trying to ring out all the water from our jeans and sweatshirts.  It looked more like a wrestling match than two girls attempting to do laundry.

After four, yes FOUR hours, we gave up.  Our jeans didn't dry completely for a week.

That day I came to respect my pioneer ancestors more than ever before.

I also grew very fond of Washers and Dryers.

My parents got this washer and dryer a couple months ago. They have so many amazing features I didn't even know existed. I'm so fascinated that I keep trying to find excuses to do laundry at their house.

Yes, they really are that cool.

P.S. It's the perfect time to buy a new washer and dryer with the government appliance rebates!
