It's finally official!
June 21st = First day of summer.
First day of summer = Homemade Ice Cream!
I've eaten a lot of homemade ice cream in my lifetime, but my grandmother's recipe remains my very favorite... Enjoy!
Grandma's Homemade Strawberry/Banana Ice Cream
4 Quart Freezer 5-6 Quart Freezer
*2 pkgs frozen strawberries *3 pkgs. frozen strawberries
2 ½ C. sugar 3 ½ C. sugar
1 ½ lemons (juice) 2 lemons (juice)
1 pint cream (plus some) 1 quart cream
2 bananas, cut up 3 bananas, cut up
Add milk to fill Add milk to fill
Add all ingredients to ice cream freezer. You will need about 8 lbs. ice and 2-21/2 C. salt. Freeze until desired consistency. * You may substitute the strawberries for raspberries. (I prefer raspberries)
