Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted by Andie on November 28, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is one of my very favorite holidays.  Talk about no pressure!  All you're expected to do is watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV (or play in a turkey bowl), relax with friends and family, eat way too much __________ (insert your favorite Thanksgiving delicacy here), look at Black Friday ads, and watch football or Christmas movies after you've eaten yourself sick.  Talk about a perfect day!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday, and that most importantly you find some quiet time to think about, recognize, and reflect on all of the very best things in your life.  Sure, we all have problems and life is far from perfect, but when it comes right down to it, there is always, always much to be thankful for.

xoxo,

Andrea

Inspiration: High Point Market Trends Part 1: White, White, White

Posted by Andie on November 20, 2013

The High Point Furniture Market is held in High Point, North Carolina every six months.  Furniture designers, manufacturers & buyers from all over the world never miss it, since it's the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world.  The market sprawls over 180 buildings, 11.5 million square feet of showspace, brings in more than 75,000 attendees, and showcases tens of thousands of new products.  It's at High Point Market where furniture trends are born, and the design forecast for the next six months is predicted.

Every April and October, our furniture buyers here at RC Willey travel to High Point Market, where they select new furniture and product to begin carrying at our stores.  This past October at the Market, Wendy, our bedroom & dining furniture buyer took some photos of the most promising trends.

One of said trends at the market was the color white.  White, white, white was everywhere! All of the showrooms incorporated white, especially when it came to youth and master bedrooms!  Here are some photos.... Thanks Wendy!

Fall Decorating Ideas

Posted by Andie on November 16, 2013

If you're like me, you've got a decent amount of Halloween decorations, an insane amount of Christmas decorations, but hardly any "fall" decorations.  If you want your home to look festive during this Thanksgiving season but don't feel like going totally overboard, here are 8 simple items (you might already have most of these on hand) that will cheer up your home in no time!

1. Be-dazzled Pumpkins

Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween!  Leave them out on your porch as is, or if you really want to make a change whip out some gold or white spray paint and give them a pretty little makeover.  Don't these gold pumpkins look classy for Fall?

2. Wacky Gords

Not only do pumpkins live on through the end of autumn, but so do gords!  And the weirder and wackier looking the gords, the better!  Aren't they cool?  Display them on your front porch with the rest of your pumpkins, or throw them in a basket inside somewhere!

3. Fresh Apples

Fresh fruit is one of your greatest assets when it comes to seasonal decorating!  It's easy to come by, and it looks beautiful on display!  Fill up a cute bowl with an assortment of fresh apples, and BAM- you've got yourself a gorgeous, and edible centerpiece!

4. Wheat Stalks

Wheat stalks are a great substitute for fresh flower this time of year!  Pick up a few little stalks at your local grocer or farmers market and put them around your house in vases or mason jars.  The good news?  They are WAY lower maintenance than flowers!

5. Indian Corn

While you're at the farmers market picking up wheat, grab some indian corn husks too!  The multi-colored corn kernels are beautiful and festive looking, and these look great piled up in a basket!

6. Nuts

I love decorating in the Fall with nuts!  Hazlenuts, Chestnuts, Walnuts, Buckeyes (my personal favorite- careful though, these one's are poisonous)- any kind really!  Fill up a glass bowl or vase and you've got yourself a cute, easy decoration!

7. Burlap

Get ahold of some burlap and cut a simple table runner or throw together a basic wreath for your front door!  It's the perfect neutral, rustic material for fall!

8. Cinnamon Sticks

Cinnamon Sticks are a great secret weapon to have on hand because not only do they look pretty, they smell AMAZING!!  Throw them in a dish with a candle, or heat them up on the stove with apple cider to create the perfect Fall aroma!

Trend Alert: Mad for Plaid

Posted by Andie on November 6, 2013

via pinterest

One of the biggest fashion trends this fall in women's, men's and children's clothing and accessories is the resurgence of tartan and plaid.  Hello!  Is anyone else thinking flashback to the 90's here?  Im pretty sure I wore a red plaid skort (one of the biggest fashion mistakes ever) on the first day of 6th grade that would totally be in vogue again right about now (well maybe besides the skort part). Funny how trends just keep recycling, isn't it?

And now, like most trends that start in the fashion world, plaid is back and hot this season when it comes to home interiors!  If you don't want to rush out and buy a plaid sofa or put up plaid wallpaper, think plaid on a smaller scale.  Throw pillows, blankets, dinnerware, and table cloths might add just the touch you're looking for this season.
