The Homeless Youth Resource Center is a drop in center during the day for homeless street youth in Salt Lake City.  Here, youth from ages 15-22 experience a safe haven from the difficult reality of living on the streets.  The center serves two hot meals a day, provides clients the chance to receive basic need items, take showers and do laundry, teaches life skill classes, and gives youth a safe, trusting place where they can cultivate positive relationships with other youth while escaping the natural elements.  The center's ultimate goal is to help youth in the process of transitioning from homelessness to self sufficiency.

Thanks to a tip from one of our contest winners, RC Willey was able to donate two large theater style popcorn makers to the center this holiday season!

This amazing program is run by Volunteers of America.  Last year alone, they served over 800 homeless youth in Salt Lake.  In addition to food and clothing donations, the center is trying to get additional funding, so that eventually they can serve as an overnight shelter. The Christmas Tree Jubilee is an annual fundraiser in Ogden, Utah that raises money for special needs children in the Weber County School District, and the Christmas Box house, a 24 hour, 7 day a week emergency shelter for children that are victims of child abuse and neglect.  

Over the past 23 years, the Christmas Tree Jubilee has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help these special children in Ogden's community.

This year, the RC Willey Riverdale display team of Kristina Willie, Nichole Richins, and Natalie Wheeler, decorated this beautiful tree that was donated to the Jubilee.  It was a wonderful event!!

Not many college football teams have as passionate of a fan following as the Boise State Bronco's.  The football lovers up in Boise are legit.  RC Willey in Boise held a contest this month, to send a grand winner to the Maaco bowl in Las Vegas!  Steve Weiler, an avid Bronco's fan, won the trip, and was there to cheer on Boise State to victory!  Congrats Steve, and congrats Boise State!

As part of our Think Pink Cancer Awareness Promotion last month, RC Willey made a donation to support cancer research, treatment, and prevention at the primary cancer research and prevention centers in each of our markets!

This past week our Riverdale store hosted a Trunk-or-Treat for the community to attend!  The main sponsors were RC Willey, Texas Roadhouse, and Chick Fil A.  In addition, there were about 80 vendors present including Rumbi Grill, TGI Friday's, Burger King, Souper Salad and many more! 

The event was a huge success!  Nearly 3,000 people from the community came. Vendors not only handed out traditional halloween candy, but trick-or-treaters also went home with awesome gift cards, coupons, and prizes!  Kids were also able to test out the latest video games in the Game trailer that was there!

RC Willey is host to The Reno 5000, a 5k race series in Reno, NV.  The Reno 5000 was born in an effort to promote health and wellness, and to give everyone in the community a chance to stay fit, get fit, and have fun! There are 7 Events/Races throughout the year that everyone in the family can participate in! 

Next Saturday, to celebrate running, healthy living, and Halloween, the Reno 5000 presents...

The "Trick-or-Treat" 5k and Junior 1 Mile Run

In honor of cancer awareness month, students from Eisenhower Junior High and Taylorsville High in Salt Lake City, RC Willey, and Serta Mattress Company are teaming up to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute and are attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest Human Mattress Dominoes!

According to Guinness, the current world record for the World's Largest Human Mattress Dominoes was Achieved by 380 participants last month in New York City.  We're going to beat it!

After the event, RC Willey and Serta will be selling the Record Breaking Twin Mattresses at a discounted price of $100 each (they retail at $150)!  As part of our Think Pink Event at RC Willey, we'll be donating $10 from each mattress sold to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City!  Eisenhower students and faculty will also be making additional contributions to the Huntsman Cancer Institute during this world record attempt.
