Appliance Troubleshooting Guide

Did you know?

Less than 45% of reported technical problems turn out to be actual issues? In fact, 55% either have no problem at all or could be easily resolved with basic troubleshooting. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to get your product up and running as quickly as possible.

Step 1: Warranty, or No Warranty?

Did you purchase a Blue Rewards or other Extended Warranty?

Submit a Claim

Contact the manufacturer directly and be prepared to give them the proof of purchase, model, and serial numbers.

Step 2: Troubleshooting

It can take 24–48 hours for a new refrigerator to begin cooling and producing ice. Please wait at least 24 hours before submitting a warranty claim or contacting the manufacturer.

  • Is it plugged in?
  • Did you check your homes circuit breaker that connects to the outlet the refrigerator is connected to?
  • Are the temperature controls adjusted correctly?

Refer to the owner's manual to determine the proper settings for your product

  • It can up to 24 hours for the reservoir inside the ice maker to fill up and freeze before making ice for the first time.
  • Inside the refrigerator is a control panel, make sure the ice maker is turned on.
  • Check to make sure that the water line is connected properly to your refrigerator.
  • Hold down the water dispenser (this may take a while) until you fill and pour out several containers full of water in order to ensure the water line is clear and the ice maker reservoir is filled properly.

Please refer to the owner’s manual for the quick adjustment needed to realign your door - no service call required.

Refrigerators use large compressors to keep food cold, and some models naturally operate louder than others. This is normal. Refer to your owner’s manual for details about your specific model and whether it is designed to run with higher-than-average compressor noise.

Personal preferences vary, as do recommended settings by the manufacturer and model. Please refer to your appliances owners manual for specific settings.

  • Is it plugged in?
  • Check your homes circuit breaker that connects to the outlet the washer is plugged into.

  • Washing machines include shipping blocks or straps to secure them during transport. Check your owner’s manual to ensure they’ve been removed before use. If your machine was delivered, the driver should have taken care of this - if not, let us know. In the meantime, remove the shipping materials so you can start using your new washer.
  • Is the machine on a level surface? Adjust the legs of the machine to make your machine level.
  • Is your machine overloaded? Too many clothes, or unevenly distributed items can cause the washer to become unbalanced and run loudly. Try redistributing the load or removing a few items, and the machine should return to normal operation.

Not all cycles require the agitator to move. The issue may simply be a faulty lid‑lock switch. If you suspect the switch is the problem, refer to the instructions at the top of this page for next steps.

Measure the height from the floor to the top of your drainpipe. It must be at least 32 inches. If it’s lower than that, the washer will continuously siphon water, leading to filling issues and excessive water use. Most washers will not operate correctly unless the drainpipe is 32 inches or higher.

Check the water hose connections at both the machine and the spigot. If they aren’t fully tightened, remove and reattach them securely. Also inspect the drain hose and standpipe to ensure there are no leaks.

Note: If the unit was installed by one of our technicians, please refer to the warranty information above and contact us so we can schedule a service order. If you installed it yourself, you may contact the manufacturer directly using the numbers provided above.

  • Is it plugged in?
  • Is the cord attached properly to the dryer (see Owner’s Manual).
  • Did you check your homes circuit breaker that powers the outlet the dryer is plugged into to see if it has tripped?

  • Check the lint filter. It’s easy to forget to clean it between drying cycles, but a clogged filter restricts airflow and can become a serious fire hazard. Make sure you clean it after each dryer load.
  • Check the vent line going outside – is it clear? If not, pull it down and clear it out so your machine has proper ventilation.

It's possible the belt that turns the drum is not attached. See the steps at the top of the page to get this fixed, or see the owner’s manual to see how to reattach the belt yourself.

Make sure the filter is clean, if there is too much lint, the filter cannot sit all the way down. A vacuum can help to pull out that old lint.

Yes, insulation can be taped together and put back in place. It’s there to quiet the cycles and will function as designed.

Your owner’s manual has lots of ideas on the proper ways to fill your new dishwasher. If it is overly full, or you have something blocking the drains, you can see residue left over. Make sure that the drain hose is installed correctly as this could affect cleanliness as well.

Was this installed by us? See top of this page and let us know so we can set up a service order. Did you install it yourself? Check that owner’s manual or call the manufacturer directly.
