The Perfect Patio

Posted by Kelsie on March 9, 2020

Spring is just around the corner and warmer days are ahead- YAY! As winter nears its end, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your outdoor living spaces. If you are wanting to give your patio a refresh, start with the furniture. Your furniture is the main focal point of your outdoor living spaces, so make sure it consists of pieces that are both beautiful and practical.

There are a few key elements to consider when picking out patio furniture. First- consider the size of your patio and the amount of space you can utilize. There are so many furniture options for small patios, large patios, and everything in between. Make sure your furniture doesn't make your space feel too cramped or look odly small in comparison to the rest of the patio. When shopping, keep in mind how many people you want to accomodate. Also, consider what area of your patio you want to place your furniture based on the amount of direct sunlight it receives.

Once you have picked out your furniture, don't forget to accessorize! It is amazing how much coziness can be added to your patio with an outdoor rug, a few throw pillows, and a cute planter to add some greenery. If you really want to add some extra ambiance, add a firepit to your patio!

Living Room Refresh With @greybirchdesigns

Posted by Kelsie on February 17, 2020

Living Room Refresh With @greybirchdesigns

We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Kaycie from @greybirchdesigns on a living room refresh for her home. For her, as well as many of us, the living room is the most used space in the home. It is where family and friends gather together, so it is important to ensure that it is an enjoyable space to be in! If you are thinking about refreshing a room in your home, make a list of the specific things you want to achieve with the space. This will give you a clear sense of direction and will make the process much easier.

There were a few things Kaycie wanted to make sure she incorporated in her new living room. First, she wanted to be able to comfortably seat her family of 7. Second, she wanted to make sure the room was both beautiful and functional. Lastly, she wanted pieces of furniture that would brighten up the room.

Kaycie first started by selecting a sofa, since that would be the largest piece of furniture in the space. She chose our Griffin Sectional Sofa because it is comfortable, offers her ample seating, and the light color instantly brightened up the room. Once she had the sofa picked out, she was ready to design the rest of the room around it. Kaycie paired our Magnolia Home Furniture Coffee Table with our Magnolia Home Furniture End Table for a cohesive look. She then accented the room with a cement table lamp and some cozy throw pillows

Here is a before and after of her space:

We absolutely love how her living room refresh turned out, and we hope this gives you some inspiration if you are looking to freshen up your living room as well!

Traeger Recipes: Roast

Posted by Alyssa on October 16, 2019

traeger grill

It’s finally starting to get cold outside, which means we can finally start having cozy, warm meals again! One of our family’s favorite meals when it’s cold outside is a roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. It’s always delicious, but have you ever tried making a roast on a Traeger Grill? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, pretty much everything tastes better on a Traeger. Check out the recipe below!

Traeger Recipes: Roast

via Traeger Grills

INGREDIENTS:

1 (3-3 1/2 LB) Beef Chuck. Rump, or Sirloin Tip Roast

12 TBSP Vegetable Oil or Olive Oil

Traeger Prime Rib Rub as needed

2 Cups Beef Broth

Chopped Potatoes, Celery, Carrots, for serving

DIRECTIONS:

  • Rub the roast on all sides with the oil and place on a rack in a roasting pan or Dutch oven, fat-side up.
  • Season well with Traeger Prime Rib rub. Pour the beef broth in the bottom of the pan.
  • When ready to cook, set temperature to High and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes.
  • Cook the roast for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the outside is seared.
  • Reduce the temperature to 225℉ and continue cooking, 2 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 135℉ for medium-rare.
  • If you want to add some vegetables into the mix, add the chopped vegetables and a few sprigs of thyme into the broth and cooked, covered with foil, for the last hour of cooking. Add in additional beef broth as needed.
  • Tent the roast with aluminum foil and let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing across the grain into thin slices.
  • Serve with the pan drippings and vegetables. Enjoy!
  • *Cook times will vary depending on set and ambient temperatures.

Give it a try and let us know how you like it! And don't forget, you can get a Traeger Grill and the accessories you'll need from RC Willey.

The Best Mashed Potatoes In the World

RC Willey Blogger Profile Picture - Andrea Posted by Andie on September 14, 2019

A recipe for mashed potatoes??  Aren't they pretty self-explatory?  Boil potatoes, mash them up, add a little milk, butter, salt & pepper and you're good to go. Right?  I don't blame you for thinking this post might be a waste of your time- the truth is that if you've never tasted these holiday baked mashed potatoes you just don't know what you're missing!

We are very pro- mashed potatoes at our house.  My husband grew up in Idaho for heaven sake, so our children have it in their DNA to love potatoes.  While I'd never turn down a plate of traditional mashed potatoes, I'd take these holiday baked mashed potatoes over the regular stuff ten times out of ten!  Basically they are just a delicious (and even more unhealthy) spin on mashed potatoes.  Who doesn't love a little more butter, sour cream & cream cheese?  The great part about this recipe is that you can make them the night before thanksgiving, let them sit overnight and pop them in the oven just before it's time to eat.  Less work for you on the big day!

Serioulsy though, try these and you'll never, ever go back to regular mashed potatoes.

Holiday Baked Mashed Potatoes

12 Medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 8 ounce package cream cheese, cubed
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs
4 green onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Boil potatoes in salted water in large saucepan, cover and cook until tender.  Drain and place in large mixing bowl.  Beat until smooth.  Add cream cheese and butter, beat until smooth and stir in sour cream.
In a small bowl, blend milk, eggs, onions and seasonings.  Add to potato mixture and whip until light and fluffy.
Pour into a greased 9x13 glass baking dish; cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Bake uncovered, 45-60 minutes at 350 degrees or until puffed and golden brown.
